Second World War Battle of Britain Base Proof Coin (http://www.royalmint.com/store/BritishBase/WW2BBBP.aspx)

No wonder we won The Battle, after all according to the Royal Mint we we flying Lowback cannon armed Spitfires, with individual exhaust stubs and what appears to be seized engines.............. :mad::mad::mad:

Ahh nothing like getting it right.... or should that be wrong.

NutLoose.
It is OK for you to be pedantic about very minor points, but I am more concerned with the four UFO's in the background :E

NutLoose, did you try http://www.royalmint.com/ContactUs/full_details.aspx ? They would perhaps be interested to know that this coin does not represent a Battle of Britain aircraft.

Attention to detail most certainly IS important!

How can they get it SO wrong? Its about as dumb as puting a Nuke sub in a picture of Trafalger! {Floating that is, not on a sandbar!}

NutLoose, I would point out that the cannon equipped “b” wing entered service during 1940. No.19 Squadron used it during the battle of Britain. so it's not as wrong as you make out.

barnstormer,

I know it's a cliche, but you owe me a new keyboard, coffee everywhere, including down my nostrils.....

Funniest comment I have read in a long time (but maybe I have a perculiar sense of humour) - thanks for making my day!! :ok:

True, but then they had lovely eliptical wings, not something that looks like it could have been lifted off a Typhoon... ( real one, not the later plastic version ;) )

True, I was merely pointing out that cannon was just acceptable

I'm gonna buy two - in 15 years time they'll be collectors pieces, like those 1936 Edward VI pennies

...and my grandkids wont know the difference.
