Could anyone point me in the direction of a company making EFB mounting systems for the A320. I am looking for something that can be removed on a daily basis and taken from one aircraft to another.

Thanks in advance!

Using google alone gives quite a lot of info on that subject. The first thing you have to ask yourself and your local CAA is however what kind of EFB do you want, which savings can it produce, what kind of certification will you need.

An EFB class 1 is basicly a notebook/tablet-PC centered solution and totally portable, however it may have restrictions in what flight regimes it can be used. Class 2 requires at least part if not completely aircraft fixed installation, a certified output device (screen) and hardware interface to the aircraft. It can be done in a docking-station concept for existing notebook hardware issued to each pilot or with a fixed computing unit for each aircraft. Class 3 devices are completely integrated into the aircraft and fixed to it, and therefore need complete certification, those units are most prevalent in newer aircraft designs as buildin part of cockpit environment, for example A380/A350 or B777/787. However there are some companies that offer refit STCed refit kits.

A quick google found me an industry overview (http://www.volpe.dot.gov/hf/aviation/efb/docs/efb-industry07.pdf) from the FAA, however that is allready several years old and the field is developing very very fast.

I actually already have the EFB... A tablet loaded with Jeppesen Flightdeck & Airbus LPC. Built in GPS ETC.

However, I want a mount.

I notice that Virgin America have the same tablet but with a mount to place it above the tiller.

In that case it is probably best to give them a call and ask, as far as i know fixed mounts have to be certified too, to assure there is no additional risk during high acceleration events (ie crashs).

hi, can anyone suggest a not so expensive class 1 EFB.

On an average how much does it cost per year to keep the charts etc updated?

thanx

Hi
Came across this and even though it is an old thread I am compelled to respond as the company I work for has a patented EFB mount that will fit any airframe type. It is DO160F tested to 20 g's and flying in A320 and other aircrafts. Can visit www.asginc.net - Avionics Support Group, Inc. - Miami, FL (http://www.asginc.net) to see it.

I know the approved mounting solutions are hard to find. Hope this helps..

Dual IPAD running Jeppesen FD, cheap solution, better resolution than our real EFB's and actually does more than the EFB.
