Had a PPL student tell me the other day that he was flying both steam and glass panel aircraft in his training, depending on which was available. Not an ideal state of affairs. Anyone encountered this?

Our FTO is about 50/50 in terms of number of analogue vs digital panels. Pick of the draw but everyone seems to adapt quite well. :)

I have been training on both G1000 and conventional on the Diamond DA40

For a PPL doing VFR flying there will be no difference, maybe 1 minute of recognising where the different switchgear is, but apart from that it's never a problem. Probably helps that our conventional's use Garmin 430 with radio stacks which works similar to the radio stack on the Garmin G1000.

I actually prefer the glass screen aircraft, however the conventional outweighs the glass in the fleet, 2 have it and 5 don't.

Slightly different checklist, and are generally slightly heavier - that's it for VFR.
