The noise level in the cockpit in our -300s as opposed to the 752s is incredible, and has been getting worse over the years (a/c 7-8 yr old).
Any guys out there that also fly the 753 experiencing this problem, and aware of any solution? Mainenance folks, your input is also desired.

The airline says yes it is noisy but you have to live with it, apparently Boeing is only recently acknowledging it is a problem.

This is starting to lead to non-SOP procedures such as switching the Left Pack off during late descent to alleviate the screaming air condtioning noise.

Trying cycling the right recirc fan OFF, then back ON. :ok:

Works in approx. 75% of our a/c.

Unfortunately it doesn't seem to work in the loudest ones. :{

Does the Switching off the Recycle fan [LH or RH] make a difference.If not get the routing checked up for leaks.Check the mufflers in the flight deck too.

Noise canceling headsets?

Well, you do not want to recycle the L RECIRC FAN in a 757, as this action will open the E & E outflow valve which will then need to be closed by MX upon landing.

As far as ANC headsets are concerned, yes we do have them available. They are about as comfortable as having your head in a vice for a few hours at a time :} I guess half our pilot group does not use them.

And why should you have to be subject to such a workplace? Most 752s are fine, the 753 is not. Apparently Boeing is just now acknowledging that this is a problem that needs to be addressed.

I actually much prefer flying the 763, its nice and quiet.
