I was talking to a friend of mine the other night, and he mentioned that Ryanair landings always seem harder than those of other airlines. I can't believe that this is right, but said that I would ask the question.

So is my friend right (I would be surprised if he is) and if he is, why?

This is a genuine question so please leave any Ryanair bashing to another thread.

No as there is no average landing nor average pilot, therefore difficult to determine whether or not a landing was "harder than other airlines" - it's not one pilot flying into one airfield with the exact same landing weight doing the exact same landing in exact same weather conditions etc. so such comments are pretty stupid.

Just feel their landings when your whisky in your luggage is smashed :} Take it away The Real Slim Shady.. if you're unbanned.... stage is yours. :E

"Seem Harder"? As in, more difficult? Won't go there.

They probably seem harder because that's what he expects them to be... if anything, Ryanair would have its crews doing more sectors than most- so you would think that they would be better at it?

A wild guess: maybe RYR have higher average occupancy, hence slightly higher average landing weight? :8

See here. (http://www.pprune.org/passengers-slf-self-loading-freight/360741-boeing-737-question-about-firm-landing.html) You could easily find all this yourself on a search.

Thank you. It just didn't occur to me that this would have been a general question before. I will run through the other threads.

.. but, as we all know... the old going around does take a few minutes = later arrival = later next departure... and a sure way of getting it on first time is to plant it firmly..still..wtf do I know? cheers..bm..ex 733
