Fife Glenrothes Airfield Fly-In, Saturday 4th July

Just to let you all know of the Fly-In this Saturday at Fife Airport (EGPJ), in Scotland. Free landing fees, aircraft on display, interesting visitors & a BBQ. Here's from the website:

We hope that you can join us either to help run the event or to come along and enjoy the great weather and all the activity at the airfield.

The open day is for all aviators and their friends & families and all are welcome to join us. There is NO LANDING CHARGE so tell any non-Fife pilots to get an aircraft and come and visit us. We will have various activities throughout the day to keep kids young and old occupied such as:

Aircraft Ground Displays - Aircraft will be out the hangars for visitors to view, we also hope to have some interesting aircraft flying in.

Kids entertainment - Various activities to keep the kids amused such as a bouncy castle and various amusing "village fete" type games.

Flight Sims - We hope to have a triple monitor Flight Sim system running with head tracking software...come and try it out. Also we should have a Radio Control sim so come and see how easy/hard it is to fly an RC plane.

Full BBQ/Restaurant and licensed bar. (Alcohol can only be consumed in the usual public areas such as the Tipsy Nipper and out by the public picnic table area).

We wil no doubt have some interesting aircraft fly in but as this is NOT an Air Display we do not know who will fly in or what they might decide to do overhead...

I will update this first post as more information is available, in the meantime if you are able to assist us in running the day please post below or let a member of the committee know by emailing info[at]fifeflyingclub.co.uk or contact Alan, the Chairman, on chairman[at]fifeflyingclub.co.uk.

PLEASE tell your non-Fife based friends and aviators to join us. The sun will be shining...

Please be aware that Glenrothes is close to the Portmoak gliding site, which is one of the most active in the UK. It is marked on the chart, please make sure you are aware of it. Hopefully Glenrothes can provide further advice if necessary.

Most launches at Portmoak are by winch and flying into a wire is very dangerous so do NOT overfly the airfield.

11-4 was the info I've been given but standard A/G times & free landing fee's throughout the day. I hear also the holding point markings have been given a fresh paint in time for the fly-in... lol.

I dont think the're anticipating a big local turnout so car park should be fine. Plenty of overspill anyway. Weather still a big question mark. Hopefully see you there anyway ?

OK, come Sat afternoon after 'pass your message' I'm going to be so pedantically complete that the only supplementary you can procedurally ask is 'when did you last see your father?'.:)

Flying club
All the best to Glenrothes/Fife or whatever they are calling it this week for good weather and attendance,even if they wouldn't let me register on their website.:{

If all goes according to plan you might even get to see all 4 Scottish based Tipsy Nippers putting in an appearence, possibly even in formation....! If there's a strong wind that should entertain the crowds for about 5 mins as we fly the length of the runway !

I do love my Nipper but by god its no speed machine....
