Hi,

I've got one of these GPS systems. Wondering if there's anybody else out there with one that could advise what's the best and most economical way of uploading/buying maps for Europe. It comes with USA but I need Europe. I find it's hard to find the information regarding how to do all of this as mine didn't come with any instructions and the user manual online doesn't specify how to go about this.

As a virgin GPS user any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Hi

Have you actually looked at AvMap (http://www.avmap.it)

link to manual for that model

AvMap (http://www.avmap.it/index.php?swt=0309&sec=3&ipr=310)

European charts it says 48 Euro

AvMap (http://www.avmap.it/index.php?swt=0509&t=1)

I know with my Avmap ekp Iv it has CF card that pull out put in computer and drag and drop the new charts on to it very simple I think yours is the same or very similar

You can download the User Manual at:

http://www.sportys.com/pilotshop/images/geopilot2plus.pdf

on page 91 they give an address for map updates which look to be Jepp.

Best of luck

Thanks for replying!

jxc, mine uses SD cards. I reckon there's a cable I need to hook up with computer but not sure of the name of it. In the manual it say the USB port is for factory use only....

I have to say to a newbie on GPS's I'm not sure I would recommend this piece of equipment purely because of it's not-so-clear instructions....

As this is an aviation-specific unit, I would ask the pilot who sold it as most liklely he would have worked out most of its features?

Normally, you buy the upgrade and they send you the files via e-mail - you just replace the files on your card, using any card reader connected to your PC.
Just send an e-mail to: [email protected] (AvMap Orders) and they usually reply quite quickly.
Nowadays, you can also use credit card to pay (until very recently it was the case of bank transfer in €, with all the usual b...y bank charges)
But all the above applies to "upgrade/update" ... I am not sure about switching from US to Europe?
