Hi, I am going to be in London for a few days in early August and was thinking I can get some flying in. Can anybody suggest any GA airports close to London with decent transport links?

There are several. Which part of London are you staying in?
Do a quick search of the Private Flying Forum and use the word 'London'. You will get loads of advice as this topic comes up quite regular. :)

There is Biggin Hill... If you are in the area... I have done a little flying from there (in p2 seat). I have met a few of the ATCOs all nice guys!
