Hi there,

Has anybody got this GPS system that has used it with a power plug socket at home? It comes with a cigarette lighter power adapter but I'd like to play around with it at home and get used to the functions. I just need to know what voltage to set it at for home use. It says it takes 10-35V with the cigarette adapter. I have an A.C.-D.C. adapter that ranges 3-12V. Should I set that to 12V D.C. as that's the only option on the adapter within the range of the GPS?

Thanks in advance. I don't want to do this without asking first. It's a pricy piece of equipment.

Seems reasonable. Have you tried calling the mfr?

Should be fine. Check that the adapter can supply enough current (the adapter should be rated in milliamps or amps, this needs to be equal to or higher than the rating on the GPS).

Also be sure that the polarity of the connector is the same for both (most likely centre positive).
