Hi,

I am slightly confused by the validity and frequency of Metforms 214 and 215.

Believe it or not, this is also a question in the PPL confuser. Now the answer is apparently a frequency of every 6 hours for a 6 hour period. OK fair enough. However when it comes to the explanation of the answers - it is different:

The explanation says! They are issued 4 times a day and valid for a 9 hour period.

Now this "4 times a day" and "9 hour period" wasn't even a multiple choice answer. Am I missing something guys?

Thanks

The Confuser was not written by God but by mere mortals, and there are a lot of errors in the questions/answers. This is probably one of them.

Here's the current schedule and validity period of all the metforms:
Met Office: Aviation - new briefing charts (http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/aviation/news/briefing_charts/index.html)

Looking at that table it looks like there's a difference between the forms even. Spot winds (214) have a six-hour cycle and a six-hour validity (but are issued three hours in advance) while sigwx (215) have a six-hour cycle with a nine-hour validity (and are issued five hours in advance). The European equivalents (414/415) are on the same cycle.

Thanks!

So in summary

Form 215 issued 4 times per day and valid for 9 hours

Form 214 issued 4 times per day and valid for 6 hours
