View Full Version : Birmingham International - how much?

I'm currently working beside Birmingham International - walking distance away, in fact, and I was wondering what the cost is likely to be to fly in here rather than driving down?

I usually avoid large airports for most of my flying because of the restrictive handling and parking costs and they aren't usually anywhere near where I want to be, but in this case I'd want to come in here about 10:00 and leave around 16 or 17:00 to get home. Not a regular thing, but a nice-to-do, IF it's affordable.

I know I could go to Coventry, Wolverhampton or a nearby strip, but the hassle of getting to work and the time lost wouldn't make it as appealing as Birmingham.

Cheers,

M.

All landing/handling is compulsory by Signature (0121 782 1999) and for a <1 tonne a/c (1500kg a/c in brackets if different):

Landing £9.71 (£19.42)
Nav charges £1.90 (£3.80)
Handling £60.00 (minimum fee)
Airport Levy £3.60
Parking £5.00 (£10.00)

All plus VAT, so total £92.24 (£111.34 for 1500kg)

They will give you a free lift round to the station/NEC entrance if you need it.

Thanks,

£60.00 minimum handling charge is a bit steep, but I can't say as I'm surprised...

I might well give it a go towards the summer when daytime is longer.

Cheers

FL: How long is that parking for? We were wondering about this as an overnight alternate if it gets dark at Wellesbourne. (OK, Wellesbourne are happy to put the lights on for £25, but what if they fused or something).

Thanks, but it's being said that Coventry isn't always open at night. Is that true?

Also, one thing to remember about Birmingham is that AVGAS isn't available so make sure you have enough fuel.

It's suprising how many GA arrive at EGBB & then have to position to Coventry, Halfpenny Green, Tatenhill, Wellesbourne etc for fuel.
