View Full Version : A320: ADIR's quick re-alignment vs pax route map show (THALES)

Hello,

we usually don't re-align the ADIRS after landing in destination, and some of our flights did have trouble with the pax map show.

and it appear that doing a quick re-alignment solves the problem.

any inputs that this is a common practice ? suggestions ?

Thanks

Not sure if its diff...b/w the bus and 767 or 737 but every turnaround we do a full alignment (either for GPS or non GPS equipped jets). Only takes 10 mins, and you'd be hard pressed to do a ten minute turnaround unless the pax all have ejector seats. (presume ADIR is just an integrated IRS plus air data comp?)

Not sure what effect it would have on pax route map though.....

LOL....you really made me laugh loudly about the ejects seats.

yes ADIRs is IRS integrated with ADR.

the thing is .... if the residual GS is 5kts or more...we do a quick re-alignment, but usually the GS after landing when parked at the gate is zero...so the need fo re-alignment is not required provided we have GPS priamry.

but the pax route map not showing or showing with some mistakes is confusing.

thanks for you input.

Be careful, Kuwait340: As far as I can remember, the GS is reset to 0 after 2 minutes after onblock, but the bias remains, and will only be reset to 0 if you realign...
So it may seem that GS is usually 0, because by the time you look, it has already reset itself - while you were busy reading parking checklist, noting onblocks, remainingfuel and thelike....

Why not perform a quick align of the ADIRS? Perhaps that will solve your passenger route map problem?

Aside from checking Ground speed, i'd also check the position monitor on the FMGC to check for any position error there.

I personally quick align every sector. If that doesn't solve your pax route problem then full aligns it is. You do have time after all :)

I love twins, i agree with, but the thing is we didn't have this problem when we were using honeywell system...so Thales is new to me.

thanks for your advice.
