Hey there,
I would like to know at which temp it's mandatory to use anti ice
for Engine and Wing? (on the bus of course...)

And i also want to know at which temp you need de icing? Is that
mandatory when passing below 0C?

And finally last question, are you allowed to use FLEX when you have
Anti Ice for both Engine and Wing and also been de iced?

I have heard that under the temp of 10C you can use Anti Ice...But the
problem is that i haven't seen any pilot using Anti Ice when it's 5-10C...
So i been quite sceptical over the numbers being correct...

Thanks in advance

(a) below 10c with visible moisture
(b) de-icing is done re frost/snow/ freezing rain etc and even if the temp is above freezing, falling snow grains etc require de-ice ....commaders decision here.
(c) yes for flex but not allowed with a contaminated rwy
(d) 10c and visibile moisture upto -40 sat in climb and Crz. In Des visible moisture , ice on irrespective of temp colder than -40 sat.

jeez I feel I have done a tech exam.

10C and visible moisture for engine anti-ice always. The A320/319 have an "Ice Probe" which is a metal spike about the size of a finger sticking out between the windscreens to look at and see if there is ice. The newer models are even lighted. If you see ice there you may need wing heat or of course if you can see ice on the wing. In my experience if you need wing heat you very often can not see the wing anyway. Don't know about the big busses.

if you see ice on the ice probe you will definitely have ice on the wings

10C and visible moisture for EAI for sure.

For my experience in 330, ice probe + ice underneath wiper + ice around the egde of windscreen is a very good indication for WAI. It's very hard to see ice on wing in fact.

For Info:

Visible moisture = Any precipitation or Visibility of less than 1 statue mile (1600m)

And if you don't see guys putting on the engine anti-ice below 10c RAT then :=
