Hi all,
as snow time is approaching, I would like to know how to de-ice my airplane. I asked to the cessna service center. They told me: "we check". But I'm still waiting. Mainly I would like to know if can I use the kilfrost or any other de-icer.

You have to be very careful using Kilfrost products designed for faster planes as they are thixotropic (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thixotropy) and will not be shed from the wings of a plane that takes off at less than 100kts.

my main concern is: is it safe to apply hot water and type 1 fluid on a fiberglass airplane?

Why not just use RDF? You don't need to heat it. As mentioned, I wouldn't be happy with the added weight of even Type 1 on the wings.

These excellent NASA training documents discusses among other things which fluids can be used on low performance aircraft:

I would think that should be something in the flight manual or at least an information manual for the type ?
