need advice on job hunting please!

:confused:Hi Gents
Can anyone shed me a light about the Canadian market and how the hiring process going on.
I live in Canada (about a year) and i keep sending my resume' out but no luck.
When i talk about it to everyone, nobody wants to believe that i have applied.
I'm not either too much under qualified either.

I mean i don't expect too much but i'm guessing with 5000+ and 1300 Airbuses and 1300 TP Kigairs (US corp)3700+ pic . I should get at least Kingair position in Canada.
What do You think? Ok i admit that i did not follow up my resume sending either.

Do You guys think i should start my job hunting in a good ole fashion way ? e.g walkin to the office and handing my resume out? or phone calls? etc?
Or perhaps You all could guid me to the right direction to be more successful.
I'll be back in the Country by next week (Alberta)_ Afterall location doesn't mean anything to me. All i need just a respond from a company .

Why don't you try your luck in the Middle East. No money to be made flying King Air in Canada, but It's a lot of fun. Did you try Kenn Borek out of Calgary.

Ohhh yes my Friends, I've sent my resume out to every one,but no luck yet.
Actually my question is if i have to go and knock their doors? since i don't get any replies or email back ?

I have applied for some of the operations down here and I'm in the process with one of them also but i don't know how long does the whole show take ?
And also believe me it is not that easy to get with these guys either.They already have a bunch of resumes from a lot of fully qualified airbus guys from around the globe.
This is even one reason that QR denied my application already.
I'm not current on King airs (last flight was 2005) but i need to break- in to the market and get all the necessary Canadian experience and in the future move to Corp.jet.
what do You think which company is the good starting point ?And again how to approach them effectively???

Well yes i have of course my canadian adress and Alberta phone # on the resume.
It seems i have to it in good ole fashion way and start knocking their doors and hand them my resume and find out the result just in case they hire.

Yes, the best way is to go knock on the door and deliver in person.

If you are not applying for an airline job, your Airbus time may be causing you difficulty. Most Charter or Corporate operators are going to look at your resume and think that you will be off to the nearest airline right about the same time that they finish training you. On the other side of that coin, I hope you are applying to all the available airlines... that's where your Airbus time will help you out.

Not that i want to sound negative but don't You think it is premature.
I looked at the PCC and didn't find many Airbus operator.AC has its own procedures and AirTransat asking for Red pass and unrestricted travel to the US. I'm fairly new in Canada so i don't own the Canadian Passport.I'm just a PR card holder.
I know this issue also applys to the corporates but what can i do?Otherwise i would not limit myself. In the past i have done Both and enjoyed all the operations e.g Corp & charters & Airlines. So i'm flexible to continue in both direction.
Anyway just any direction i would go ,i would like to have room for advancement.

I still say get the file started.

I am not well acquainted with any roadblocks you may run into with a red pass, but travel to and from the US on your old passport should not be an issue.

As for Airbus, it's not the plane that really matters. The way that the HR departments here look at things are that if you have airline time (aka 705 time), have jet experience, have glass cockpit time then many of the boxes are checked off and you wind up much hirer on the resume pile when they start calling people. Never sell yourself short. :)

I would go after everyone. There is Kelowna Flightcraft, ACE, Morningstar, and a few others (night freight, in Canada), Air Transat, Sunwing, and Skyservice (charter) and you have Air Canada, WestJet, Canadian North and others in the scheduled airline service. With a resume like yours, you will get noticed.

Go in and talk to Sunwest, North Cariboo and Shell as well. Good hunting.

i have completed my 3 year of full time course in aircraft maintenance engineering from india and worked for 6 month on MI-172 helicoptor and on AIRBUS A-320 aircraft for 6 month as apprentis . and also having bamel in jet engine ........can any one of u tell that where is job available for a candidate like me ....well in india the aviation market is falling down that why i am trying in middle east......

One suggestion for the OP, meant with the greatest of tact: please, do remember that Canada is the land of equal opportunities: ie, not all those employed in the flying industry are "guys," (and, therefore, not every reader, let alone every Canuck reader, is a "guy"), and - you might want to tighten up yer grammer and yer typing if yer sending in resumes.

Just a suggestion, of course.

Good luck with the job applications! This is a great country to live in, if you can stand the bugs, the cold, the heat, the mossies, the meeses, the bad Timmies coffee, endless hockey on TV, over-zealous antideluvian liquor laws in most provinces, and the Royal Canadian Air Farce. :)
