JAA ATPL to FAA ATP

I have a current full JAA ATPL and do my LPC/OPC's each year at FSI.

What is the best way to convert/gain a FAA ATP and do I need a FAA class 1 med cert?

If you wanted to take the FAA ATP in the bizjet your rated on then the best thing would be to contact someone like Flight Safety etc.

You would need to take the ATP written either Part 121 or 135, probably 135 if your from NetJets.

There is no minimum training time, you can effectively self endorse youreself for a test in something like a Duchess.

As an American citizen, how would I get a job with NetJetsE. I have 1500 hours of military fighter time. Over 1200 PIC and over 1200 multi-engine time. I can work the JAA ATPL issue. I don't understand the EU passport requirement.

Hi,

I converted my JAR ATPl to an FAA ATPL whilst in the states doing a type rating at FSI.

All I had to do was do the writtens, which was a day in front of a computer going through 1500 questions, and then write the computer based exam of approx 80 questions. All of which comes from the 1500 you just been looking through.

When I went in for the final sim ride my instructor was an FAA/JAA examiner so we did an LST at the same time.
Fill out the nescessary paperwork and Bobs your uncle.

I did not need to do a FAA medical as the JAA was sufficient. You do however need to get a letter from the CAA confirming you have the JAR licence and this costs approx 80 quid! It will have to be faxed direct to FSI.

This was about 2 years ago so not sure if anything has changed.
