hi all, im a PPL student in the UK going over to calgary, canada to see relatives in september.

I want to take a couple of them up with an instructor and I for an hour or so in a four seater and wondered if anyone could recommend a flying school/club in the locale. Obviously I have googled and come up with Calgary flight centre and calgary flying club, just after some opinions!

Also is there any floatplane flying done nearby as thats something I'm eager to have a go at myself.

thanks in advance all :ok:

I asked a similar question not so long ago -

General consensus is that float plane stuff is really a bit further afield than Calgary, Alberta area. British Columbia is probably the better bet

I have relatives over in the Banff area and when I visit I fly with Calgary Flying Club out of Springbank which is much quieter and about 45 minutes drive out of Calgary centre.

Springbank Airport (http://www.calgaryairport.com/Springbank/)

The Calgary Flying Club (http://www.calgaryflyingclub.com/)

Take a trip up through the Rockies to Lake Louise if you get the chance, its stunning. Banff strip isn`t always available so check well in advance. Golden in a good spot for a Lunch break.

Last time I rented a PA28 Warrior at about half of what it was up here in Scotland.

These folk might be able to help.

Sky Wings Aviation Academy (http://www.skywings.com/)

Have a look at the homes, they come with a garage for parking your plane!

I would seriously consider flying out of Calgary International (rather than Springbank) for the experience of operating off a 12,000 foot runway at a busy commercial airfield.

Besides Calgary Flight Centre, checkout Morgan Aviation.
