VFR Approach Plates for Germany - free ones available ?

Hi there,

I'm trying to find free VFR approach plates for Germany on the web - to date with no luck.

I can find a whole range of approach plates on Eurocontrol...all very useful - but the German range seems to be absent.

The only alternative seems to be to spend quite a lot of money on Jepp plates - but it seems a tad galling to do this when everything else is available for Europe.

Has anyone else experienced this 'void' of info ? Or are there websites out there that do have this infromation (websites in German absolutely fine with me, so please don't restrict to English. Have checked www.dfs-ais.de - no joy I'm afraid !)

Find somebody with Jeppview - this now comes (as an option) with VFR plates thus in effect incorporating the old printed Bottlang publications.

Funny thing is, you can freely access the German Military AIP (http://www.mil-aip.de/pages/aip_eng.html) on the internet (and in English to boot), but the civilian one they keep locked up in a vault somewhere? :confused: :rolleyes: :ugh:

it's all a copyright, and thus financial, issue. The best bet is to try and find the homepage of the airfield in question. Sometimes, not always (again, copyright issues), the up-to-date chart is provided.

Some day soon they may be officially available online.... for a fee, of course ...

The problem with using Jeppview is that (thye last time I checked) you could not have the VFR and IFR data at the same time, or at least using the same computer!:ugh:

I have been using both the VFR and IFR Jepps on the same computor for the best part of a year,

The weight of my flight bag has dropped by 75%, the coverage increased by 200% and I am now able to plan a trip from the hotel room including filing the flight plan.

All you need is a laptop, small printer. Jeppview and a subscription to Swiss/Austrian flight planing system.

Gone are the days of hours hanging around airports doing the planning!
