Any ideas on where I can go for an JAR EC130 Type rating? Eurocopter are currently quoting a ridiculous figure so looking for other options. Thanks

notar,

Edited to add: The CAA site is now back up. There is only 1 EC130 on the G reg: G-ECBO. You should be able to contact the owner/operator via their contact details and they might be able to help. (From a Google search, G-ECBO would appear to based in the Midlands, maybe around The Belfry.)

Failing that, your next best option, I guess, would be in Ireland somewhere. Otherwise, how's your French? ;)

Hi, You could go to Heli Holland, there based at Lelystad Airport.

If you can't take a joke, ASV, I suggest that you try using Google before asking daft questions... :ugh:

But, if you're really good, here's the answer: Joint Aviation Requirement

From what's been posted so far, it can be gleaned that it would be a Joint Aviation Requirement Type Rating required to fly in places where aviation is regulated by Joint Aviation Authorities.

The missing pieces of information are:-

1. Type Rating = a rating to fly a particular type of aircraft.
2. JAA = Europe and affiliated regions.

rating = Junior officer.
Fly = small insect
type= act of using a typewriter

still makes no sense to me :O

widgeon, it's obvious... :rolleyes:

It means that only junior officers that can properly undertake secretarial work are allowed to be an insect in certain aircraft.

I off to the PUB for a JAR right now!

I know Heliair based at Denham UK; can do a type on the EC120 if that's any help?

17,000 Euros for 5 days ground school and 3.5 hrs flying in our own aircraft. :eek:

notar, are you sure about it? I remember that my company paid a lot less for my training, something around 13.000€ but it was back in 2005.

Hi Notar

I looked on Helihollands web site, they charge €1300 per hour for the 130 (Charter) I dont know what they charge for training & ground school.

Im not sure if in Holland they will reduce the standard 5 hour conversion to 3 hours like in the UK, they never use too but even at 5 hours flight training it should be about 1/2 what Eurocopter have quated.

On another matter I would advise if your going to go to a foreign FTO/TRTO check with the CAA that they will except there type rating training etc for licence issue.

Premier Helicopters based in Dublin Docks and not Premier in Weston they are not a TRTO, the company in the docks have 2 EC130 and can provide the training dont know the costs
