Looking for some information on the Avro RJ. I have over 10,000 hours on the 146 and currently will be upgrading to the RJ. Specifically I am looking for information from a pilots perspective on the operation of the FADEC installation and Autopilot systems. I have some technical data but it is always nice to see what selections must be made to make the magic happen. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Hi from the emerald isle.......upgraded from 146 to rj in 1995/1996, on a manufacturers course in Woodford, near Manchester.Very good course, not a huge amount of difference betwen the two.The MCP..mode control panel is staight out of the 737-3/4/5, and is quite easy to use.The autothrust is controlled by the TRP..thrust rating(or reference) panel, and takes a bit of reading to get to grips with.
Now for the best bit.....it's much, much better to operate than the 146....none of the great handling characteristics are lost, performance is much better, and, for longer trips, the FMS takes away the guesswork.
Enjoy.....pm me if you want....P1.

Hi guys, I've got a sim assessment very soon in the RJ85 and am trying to do as much prep. as possible. Any chance you could share typical power settings, datum attitudes and speeds etc. so I can get these nailed before I even go in the sim?

Many thanks.

Oh yeah, also, is the RJ85 a cat. C or D aircraft? Thanks.

Neither, it's Cat B.
Vref at max landing weight makes it so.
Great machine, irons out a lot of the 146 snags.
