Guys,

just to confirm, it is enough to slow down a 737 classic without winglets in a no wind condition in 5nm from 320 to 210?

and when we have 50kt head, i can fly it on NM times 3?

what safety margins do you take?

Without speed brakes
340 to 300 kts: 5 NM
300 to 250 kts: 4 NM
250 to 210 kts: 3 NM
210 to 190 kts: 2 NM
190 to 170 kts: 1 NM

My technique, is to slow down based on simple speed/distance reduction -
As follows -
1 NM for 10 KIAS of excess speed, in horizontal flight.
In example - reduce 340 KIAS to 200 KIAS takes 14 NM.
This technique has worked for me, in 707, 727, 747 and DC8s.
In 737-200 simulators, seems to work well too.

And my target (approach/landing situation) -
To be 30 NM from touch down, 10,000 feet above airport, at 250 KIAS.

Due to my reduced mental abilities, I do the KISS technique.
"Keep It Simple, Stupid...!" -
