Bit of a spotter question but perhaps someone here has flown the A380.
On the photo in the link you can see 2 outflow type flaps in the lower suface of the inboard leading edge of the wing (just below the landing lights).

Anyone know what they're for? Surely they aren't actually outflow valves?

Believe they are the Air Conditioning Pack Heat Exchanger Outlets.:) The inlet is the massive square'ish' panel in the front of the belly fairings.

Also note what looks like the RAT extended inboard of No 2 Engine? In the Flap Track Fairing.

Spanners..

Spanners I reckon you're right. Does look suspiciously like a RAT extended from that flap track fairing. Seems bizarre given how large the belly of the beast is to house it there.
Thanks :ok:

Didn't know that, only ever worked on the "mini" busses.

spanners,

You are most correct. Directly above those panels ether side of the fuselage are the biggest A/C packs known to mankind, and the RAT is on the inboard flap track(as mentioned). The area where they store the packs, you could get a whole country of illegal immigrants in there.

Air Generator Unit Plenum inlet doors, actuator operated..... Aka Pack cooling air inlet. One AGU in each wing root, as stated the mother of all packs.

The RAT is the other component (Electrical only) Optimal 115v 75kva at 175kts to about 56Kva at 140kts both auto and manual deployment available. RAT supplies 4 electrical hyd pumps when engines not operating.
