NORFOLK, Va. - A civilian World War II stunt plane with a single pilot crashed Friday at Oceana Naval Air Station while practicing hours before the start of one of the country's largest air shows.
Larry Arken, deputy squadron commander of the New York City-based GEICO Skytypers Air Show Team, said he did not know the pilot's condition but added, "I could say it didn't look good, from what I saw" at the crash scene.
He declined to identify the pilot pending official word on his colleague's condition. Television reports showed the plane's wreckage in a field at the end of a runway........
