'5 May 1959 RAF Wittering: A Valiant landing from exercise Mayflight carrying a 2000lb nuclear weapon crashed. Plane no WP210 Flown by Sqn Ldr D.C. Gordon with FL Higgs.'

I found this here:

http://www.keme.co.uk/~defcon/news.htm

Does anyone know anything about this? I believe it's 49 squadron plane but Eric Morgan makes no mention of it in his Valiant book.

From:http://www.ukserials.com/

WP210 Vickers Valiant B1 f/f 27/01/1955, d/d 01/04/1955, s.o.c. 01/03/1965 as CAT 5(s) at Marham

So if it did crash in May '59, it wasn't cat 5.

with the greatest respect, most of that falls into the rubbish surrounding the military category.
These websites abound - the UK's area 51 (Machrihansish) springs to mind and its complete bollocks. Or COBOL as the programmers named it.
