Thinking of flying to Swansea to meet up with some family who live nearby.
Anyone with recent exp. of the place (fuel availability etc)

Thanks

Straight forward place. Fuel available, staff friendly & good restaurant run by resident Jamaican called Charles.
They do get bit anal of late if you call up on radio without having phoned in advance for PPR.
Would give Pembrey a miss though. The bloke who runs the field there is a hazard to everyone aviation orientated.

To be fair to Swansea, I think they earn a decent income from resident parachuting activities, hence the need for PPR.
We flew in there recently and got a very friendly welcome, Charles was worth the fees alone. so I can't knock it.
Don't know anything about Pembury but obviously Contrail does!

The parachute club are alleged to have done a moonlight flit leaving fuel bill debts, etc. See Post #29 on this thread.

The parachuting operation haven't left a trace on the airfield, even the (mobile) building they used has disappeared.

My experience of Swansea is as a club hirer. It's a rather nice airfield with fairly good facilities, but the weather can change very rapidly and catch you out. I've personally watched sea fog roll in and almost outrun me to the runway!
