A wing from G-BZYZ is adorning the set of our school play, Lord of the Flies. But I don't think it's this one:

Is it possible the registration mark has been reissued? Or would this be a possible in-sequence registration from 2001? I would have thought we'd have been on the C's by then.

Anyone know anything? It would be nice to know something about the aircraft whose parts are on our stage!

Edited to add: Ah. I've found this:

which might go some way to explaining things!

UK registrations don't get re-issued. More than one registration can be associated with a single airframe, but not the other way around.

I'll just dust off my anorak...

There was one instance in the 1970s where G-BJCB was issued to two separate HS125s (original and replacement) for JCB.

On G-INFO (http://www.caa.co.uk/application.aspx?catid=60&pagetype=65&appid=1&mode=summary&regmark=bjcb) G-BJCBX is the original aircraft.

I believe the CAA decided it was too confusing and stuck to their guns after that as IRRenewal says.

What state is BZYZ's wing in?

Complete - until our theatre technician removed the flap and aileron so he could decorate another part of the stage with them, anyway. We seem to have various unrelated parts, too - e.g. an undercarriage wheel which is much too large!

Just in case you still wondered Tim, G-BZYZ crashed at White Waltham Airfield in 2003...Following circuits, the carb heat was not removed which resulted in a stall on subsequent touch and go.

Yes - thanks, after posting the original I found the AAIB report. Sad.
