Hi all,
i`m in florida at the moment working toward my faa ppl. i return home soon and alas will not complete the course. i understand i need 35hours minimum? well i have 35 hours(some previously from flying in IRL) but have not completed all of the exercises in the course i`m enrolled in. the remaining exercises are all repetitions(solo and dual) of what i`ve already done so my question is this:

hypothetically speaking, would it be possible to get a checkride with an FAA examiner to get a licenece without completing this particular schools syllabus, or is the very low 35 hour limit based and dependant upon the specific structure of the syllabus?

Since you mention 35 hrs, you are enrolled in a part 141 course of training.
That is simply a higher certification for the school which has to use a approved syllabus, therefore you need to finish it before a check ride with an FAA examiner. On the other hand you can just as easily switch to part 61 for which 40 hrs is required, of which 10 hrs solo.
If you meet the min. requirements of part 61 you can do your check ride:

25 hrs dual
10 hrs solo of which 5 solo xc
3 hrs night
3 hrs sim. instrument.

Assuming you get a sign-off from your instructor that is.
