Average fuel consumption at what sort of weight? Maximum Take Off Weight?

It is a little like asking how long any piece of string is. Unlike cars that only load up with 4 people and a couple of suitcases, there is a vast range of weights (and altitudes!) for airliners and fuel consumption will vary greatly. Can you give us a bench mark, to pitch this at?

Where do we fly? FL300 and above.

Do we carry passengers? Yes, we do.

Just give the man an answer for a typical scenario!

I think the term Average negates the necessity of nominating any particular weight....

I agree with MrBernoulli, that whatever the average figure, it is rather inconclusive.

A321 - 1280 kg/eng/hr M 0,78 CFM
A320 - 1220 kg/eng/hr M 0,79 CFM
B734 - 1180 kg/eng/hr M 0,73 CFM
B735 - 1120 kg/eng/hr M 0,74 CFM

Please do not hesitate to add your averages, I am no skipper.

Fat Clemenza,

What you might want to look at are the BADA (http://www.eurocontrol.int/eec/gallery/content/public/documents/EEC_notes/2004/EEC_note_2004_12.pdf) tables from Eurocontrol.

Thanks for your info anf questions guys. I will try to be a bit more precise. My question was about fuel consumtions for:

Widebodies: 50-80% load factor. Sectors would be from 45 mintutes (yes 45 minutes!) to 1.5 hrs in very hot and dusty conditions. For,these aircraft please include what are the optimum conditions for their operations. As we all agree, such short sectors are not intended to be served on those heavyweights.

Narrowbodies: 80% load factor and up

Many thanks again;)
