If there are any scribblies still left out there could someone please let me have the latest gen on life commutation (either PM me or add to this forum - it might be a general interest question).

Personal circumstances: Left May 1993 Sqn Ldr with terminal grant and max resettlement pension Now aged 60 (next month).

What is the maximum amount surrender-able?

What does each quid raise?

Presumably it is still a privilege and not a right and is subject to medical?

Reason for asking: it's coming under the spotlight in the divorce division of assets!

Anything else I need to know????

Why not check out the appropriate RAF Community Support (http://www.rafcom.co.uk/pay_allowances/pensions.cfm) page at this link? It gives everything that you will need to know about commutation and even has a link to a booklet regarding pension benefits on divorce. Hope it helps.

Many thanks for the replies and PMs - some very, very useful information.

As far as I am concerned the thread can now be closed but I'll leave it open just in case it is of more general interest to others.

Thanks again.
