Hi all
The 777 FCOM mentions 'improved climb performance' (one short paragraph only) and states the obvious benifits of higher V speeds, but doesn't give direction on how to obtain this data practically.
The OPT has no function for this...nor can I find it in the RTOW preamble
....anyone have an idea on this?

It's not that the OPT doesn't have it, it's that the OPT calculates EVERY takeoff using a variable V2 to achieve optimum performance- So EVERY OPT calculation is "Improved Climb".

...ok, so is it a function of the 'OPTIMUM' selection on the OPT ?

The ops manual suggests that this is for optimum flap selection, but doesn't mention much else.

thanks fellas

If your OPT is the same as our EFB, then, as Wizofoz said, the data IS already for improved climb regardless which flaps setting you choose. depending on the runway length, you may want 'analyse' both flaps settings then use the more optimum one (we use the one with higher assumed temp).

So EVERY OPT calculation is "Improved Climb".

Not totally correct, you need excess runway length to utilize improved climb, if its not available, improved climb wont be used, however the takeoff calculation will still be optimized.

TAC Inop, section4 of the B777 AFM is actually AFM-DPI, improved climb is an option available in the program.
