Have been told of a C172 that went down near Mt August this afternoon.
No details but do know that RFDS were quickly dispatched from Meekatharra and Kalgoorlie.
Lets hope all ok.

Regretfully not all OK. Two people have been killed with three being treated by EMS. Heard it was a Cessna 206, however stand to be corrected.

Yes you are sadly correct on the first part, the aircraft was a C172 but that really makes no difference, to the outcome.
ATSB are flying up from CB to investigate.

WA light plane crash kills 2, injures 3
Two people have been killed and three others injured in a light plane crash in Western Australia's Gascoyne region.
The Cessna 172 crashed at the remote Mount Vernon Station, 1,000 kilometres north of Perth, early this afternoon.
A man and an 18-month-old girl died.
The 40-year-old male pilot, a 59-year-old woman and a three-year-old girl survived.
Dr Stephen Langford from the Royal Flying Doctor Service says it is understood the survivors injuries are not life threatening.
"There's a Royal Flying Doctor Service medical retrieval team on the ground," he said.
"It's been there since about 2:00pm (AWST) ... and they've been extracting the survivors and taking them to the nearby air strip."

The injured will be flown to Perth this evening.
Dr Langford says it is believed all five on board were related.
"I'm sure it was a private aircraft, but I don't know any details of the reasons for the crash," he said.
"We're just aware that it's a real mess.
"I don't know the family relationships, but I'm aware most of them come from one family."
At this stage the cause of the crash is not known.

Not nice country for things to 'go wrong' in.

Deepest condolences and sympathy to those involved. Very sad to hear it, and as Griffo says, it is rather harsh country around there. :(

I cannot imagine the dread associated with the feeling of knowing you have to attempt a forced landing on that sort of terrain.
