Where can i get a cheap cable that will connect my Garmin GSMAP 196 to my laptop via a USB connection, as the cable that comes in the box is for a serial connection and i am afraid my laptop is not that old fashioned. I know you can get converter for the original cable but was just wandering if there was a cable that connects directly to the GPS from the USB.

Ebuyer (www.ebuyer.co.uk) do some USB to serial converters at sub £10.00. Can't find it on their site right now but they do have them. When I find the part number will post it.

The Ebuyer part number is 103054 and they are £6.99 plus VAT but are showing as of stock at the moment! If you PM me with your details I will send you one to try. We stock them to ship with a product we sell so have quite a few.
