Anyone have any experience of getting a JAA medical in another JAA country ? Is it valid with a UK licence - I assume so as that was what JAA was supposed to give us I thought.
I let my CAA PPL go out of currency due partly to the costs of the medical at £120 a go and now only fly on my FAA PPL - medical $50.
However I have discovered that in France I can get a JAA Class 2 medical for 80 Euros and so am considering revalidating the PPL.

Been down this route myself. Wrote to the CAA aeromedical section a few months ago to confirm my understanding from reading various documents on their website and they were great. Written reply (via email) received within the day confirming that I can renew my class 1 medical in Dublin (initial done at Gatwick). Haven't yet got around to it but its next on my list. The only thing the CAA wanted was for me to make sure that the Irish medical folk send them a copy of the renewal so that they can keep their records up to date.

Thanks.
That seems clear enough provided that they don't then make any exception for a CAA PPL whch I hold rather than a JAA - PPL which I don't.

My last JAA renewal cost £50 I think, and the AME threw in a free FAA Class 2 ;) Mind you I am young enough not to need another ECG for a few years....
