Not heard how things are going for Deluce's new brain-child, except Jazz is hopefully taking back to the air from CYTZ on a CYUL run this month, provided they sorted it all out with the TPA and the FBO office there...

Anyone know the latest goss from Deluce's seemingly well funded venture ?

I found this. I'm planning on being in Toronto in mid-Sept and then need to get to Ottawa. Was hoping to fly out of YTZ (Is currently bookable from Aug 28 on AC's website), but there appears to be a lot of legal wrangling going on. Does anyone know for certain what is happening?

ACE Post says WestJet, ACE hear Porter's modern launch

The Financial Post reports in its Tuesday edition Robert Deluce's plan to launch Porter Airlines from Toronto's tiny waterfront airport has taken another step forward. The Post's Chris Sorensen writes Porter launched a chic, ultramodern branding campaign, Experts say, however, it will take more than a hip image to get Porter off the ground. In a bid to appeal to wealthy Bay Street types, Porter on Monday unveiled a series of "teaser ads." Except for stylized images of an aircraft's seats and tail fin and a "flying refined" tag line, they could just as easily be used to promote the opening of a new martini lounge. Traditional carriers, including Air Canada, have tended to favour grandiose images of blue skies and breathtaking vistas to sell flights. Low-cost airlines prefer to market themselves as folksy and fun in a bid to distinguish their product. Porter's first ad campaign is being rolled out as the airline prepares to launch this fall with 10 weekday flights between Toronto and Ottawa. The airline offers turboprop aircraft flying from tiny Toronto City Centre Airport. It hopes customers want to avoid the trip to and from Pearson International Airport in neighbouring Mississauga.

good riddance to Raitt I think, she seems adept at rubbing people up the wrong way.

Apparently Porter took delivery of Q400 #1 today.

Apparently Porter took delivery of Q400 #1 today.

Indeed they did. They took delivery of it at YTZ (island airport) as well. Mayor of Toronto (who's been opposed to airport expansion on the island) wasn't invited for the ceremony... and also stated in the Toronto Star (I think) that he's powerless to stop Porter Air from operating out of YTZ.

Third world style corruption right in our own backyard. Make no mistake, if porter ever gets off the ground, it will be mob style politics that got them there. This is how the rich, mayors, politicians and beaurocrats get richer.:D

Maybe so, but it's still a good job opportunity for some pilots to fly nice equipment in and out of the island.Should be fun!!

The girls on Younge St. will make more money. Deluce knows this and will try to make the pilots feel more important than the girls. Good luck boys. He drives a pink Cadillac and wears a fur coat and sunglasses at night.:E

THEY DON'T PAY TAX!!
Oh yes they do. There's a well known Revenue Canada case that deals with that very issue - they pay tax.

Even if they pay tax they make just as much if not more than most pilots. Worked in canada for 15 years flying airplanes. Twin otters to big Airbus.Do you really think the government is able to keep track of working girls like they do pilots when it comes to taxes? Anyway, I wish Mr. Deluce and his Porter bunch all the best. Maybe not the best working conditions, but good jobs just the same.
