View Full Version : Where can I get my hands on a Tiger moth?
Hey guys and girls!
I am looking to rent a Tiger moth in or around London. Anyone have any recommendations on where I can lay my hands on one?
Thanks

I guess it depends on what "rent a Tiger Moth" means - i.e. Self Fly / Trial Lesson / "Type" Conversion / .....
The Tiger Club (http://www.tigerclub.co.uk) can do all of the above - but its a little bit outside London.
Alternatively check out: DH Moth Club (http://www.dhmothclub.co.uk/tf/) - this goes to their index of places you can get flights.

Hi there.
I mean that I already have the conversion and just want to rent solo...
And thanks for the links, OpenCirrus619

Depends whether you count Cambridge as "around London". Less than an hour from KX, plus a taxi to the airfield - plenty of people take longer than that to get from one part of London to another.
Is there still one at Redhill?????

The big question is why would you want to ? :E
Questionable handling, cold, noisy, ..........................
Looks good from the outside, cr%p from the inside
I know, I fly one

Jeez Rob, this time last year and I've paid you to fly mine!
Thankfully a very gallant chap decided to take her off my hands - they are lovely but only for about 20 mins each year!

Don't worry guys! Not panning on making a career on the Moth!! My old man (retired airline pilot) used to fly them in the sixties. Was planning on giving him a surprise trip for his birthday.
Thanks for the ideas - keep 'em coming

There is one at Henlow Flying Club (http://www.henlowflyingclub.flyer.co.uk/), plus lots of other interesting privately owned DH aircraft in the Hanger.... Chippie, 2 Leopard Moths, 2 other Tigers, Jackaroo.....
M1 or A1 up to Henlow, take your pick! Only about 35 minutes from the M25, although I believe the M1 has road works on at the moment!
