Rumour around the airport is that Solent Flight are moving on, apparently to take over the Carrill Aviation operation at Lee on Solent. Can anyone confirm this, and whether Solent will be dropping their hire rates due to not having the extortinate overheads imposed by BAA at Southampton? They'll get my custom if they do!

but how does any training work at lee. it's not licenced and currently restricted till they clear any pipe bombs from under the runways.
if they have to fly to another field to do a touch and go before training starts, that another 15-20 mins each end (sot, good, s-down, bem)

as for carill. isthe good lady finally hanging up her spurs. i was terrified of her and her manner when i first flew a twin /ir. hence i carried on along the 27 to hurn.

The need for a licensed field was why the original Solent Fight moved out of Popham, the flight to White Waltham to start and finish the lessons was getting a tad expensive.
