737 endorsement question

This is just to satisfy my curiosity after someone metioned in the A320 thread that is floating round here that a 737-300/400 endorsement covers the 737 NG series. (This fact is also backed up in CAO 40.1.0) There is a few things I still haven't been able to clarify fully.
1) If you did the NG endorsement, does that cover the 300/400 series as well?
2) Do you still need to do a differences course when going from the 300/400 up to the NG and also when going from the NG to the 300/400?
3) Has there ever been a case or does it occur where a person who only did thier training on the 300/400 then jump into a NG without ever really knowing the differences?

1) - No (Not unless you did a combined 737-3/4-8 Course.
2) Yes, unless initially covered in a combined course
3) No (not that I am aware of) - the endoresment specifies what varients on your license.

No in short is the answer for example pilots who got jobs with DJ with extensive 737 EFIS time had to do a short differences course!

And vice versa people who have only flown the NG rare cases going back to the EFIS have to do a differences course even though the CASA rating is for a "737-300/800"

I did my 737 training only on classics (300/400) never even sat in an 800 and my licence has 737-300 to 800.

So the way I understand it is realistically I would have to do a differences course to fly an 800 for some one but if I had the $$$ I could go and buy my own 800 and fly it tomorrow , like I said my licences has 800 on it
