How does one go about proving VAT has been paid on an aircraft owned for over 10 years, when I do not have the origianl pauchase invoice? Aircraft imported new 25 years ago.

Any advise.

Wasn't there a Customs amnesty some years ago?

Last time I looked into this, 1 year ago, there was no solution. The only real problem was if flying something provocative (an N-reg) into France, in which case the right forms (C88 or whatever) are desirable.

I have a contact for VAT issues, but he charges for work. PM me if you need it.

You can apply (free of charge) for a Certificate of Free Circulation from HMCE.

Thanks both- I will try HMCE first for Certificate. Sellling and prospective buyer has asked for VAT certificate. First I've heard of it.

HMCE no longer issue a Cert of FC.

This is quite a problem.

Take a look at a very informative article in the May issue of the PPL/IR in house journal. You can access this via the PPL/IR Web site (pplir.org) and then go to magazine. You do not have to be a member of PPL/IR to access the older magazines although the three most current issues are reserved for members.

Stand corrected I0540. Obtained them for our aircraft as a matter of course some years ago.
