I really hate to complain outloud, but I'm going to make an exception. So I flew on two domestic sectors on the former flag carrier for Canada this week. Both were near enough to meal times to make to difference. After TO the meal service began normally, that is until the FA's offering the "chicken or beef" said it was going to be $7.00 CAD!?!?! Not happy with that, the person on the other side of the aisle asked for some peanuts, and was offered a large bag that would keep an elephant happy for $2.00. Now I was shocked enough by the meal, but peanuts!?!? So what's next, $1.00 for the Globe, etc??

The flight attendants are all complaining about this, and I have also looked at the Q+A on the AC Aeronet intranet system, and it is in fact of little help...we have in fact created a monster of multiple classes in coach...

If you fly in J class, or use an upgrade voucher, you'll get the freebies. If you fly in certain high fare classes behind the curtain you'll get some free nourishment, but if you fly on the cheaper fares, you have to stump up cash for nourishment. It's a total  farce, as passengers see others getting their sandwich for nothing and then they are asked to pay, causing serious dissatisfaction. I understand that even on cross-country services, say Toronto-Vancouver, the same "cabin experience" will be introduced.

Total nonsense. I find it a thorough embarrassment as most of us do.

Get in touch with Susan Welschield, VP Customer Experience In-Flight over at Montreal and tell her exactly what you think. Best way. I assume she flies in the big seats on her journeys, so she won't have to stump up $7 bucks...
