View Full Version : A380 Thrust Lines

In a D&G thread there's a link to the latest A380 pics (taxi trials).

From all angles it looks like the thrust line of No 2 and 3 is different from No 1 and 4. Inlet of 2 and 3 looks lower, exhaust higher.

Any clues as to why this is ?

Bow wave effect from the huge fuselage and relative airflow created buy the huge wing.

Wing twisting... when the weight is on the wings not the ldg gear, the thrust lines will be parallel. Engines are aligned with efficient cruise in mind.

If you check out Boeing aircraft - the engines are "toed" inwards towards the bow wave ...
