A year or so back there was a rumour that the currency rules for NPPL were to change, replacing the '6 hours in the year up to now' rule. I also heard that hours for multiple ratings could be counted against a single total.

Any news?

Despite many requests, the CAA have failed to chair any meetings of the NPPL Policy and Steering Committee since June 2004....

And still we wait!

Despite some prodding by me a couple of months ago, the Head of Flight Crew licensing could not come up with any prospect of an early meeting of the NPPL SG. There are quite a number of items overdue for discussion and possible implementation.

Ah well - no doubt it is all due to uncertainty over EASA. Strange because the NPPL as now is a "national" qualification so EASA should not come into it - though they are in favour of a pan EU version called a "restricted PPL" very much on the lines of our NPPL.
