I was (reliably???) informed the other day that the NERC ATSA job is twoddle - easy - boring. Is that the case? What could be done to improve it??. .. .Is the rumour true that 'chiefs' are legging it faster than ATSA's (and laptops).

Well I am not going to degrade the job in any way but the ATSA's job is easier in some respects but harder in others.For instance there is no level planning to be done now which means on easier sectors there is not much else left to do but stripping up.Then again on busy sectors with plenty of telephone calls,re-routes and military dealings,one person has difficulty dealing with these if more than one comes up at once.At LATCC we had at least two ATSA's on the wings where at NERC it is only one and the ATSA can go under quite quickly.. .As for the chiefs,I have never seen them legging it anywhere!!. .Hope this answers some of your questions.
