There's been a lot of coverage of the new ATC system in Tanzania, and whether it should be "civil" or "military" - could anyone in the know post more detail as to the difference in capabilities between them as the talking heads don't seem to make it very clear.

cheers all

I would like to know, too. No info from the mainstream media on the actual difference(s).

Maybe try a similar question on the military forum?

If the system is to be a typical approach RADAR set up, as opposed to area, the cost on the civil market would be roughly as follows...

RADAR head , two rastascan displays, all wiring and fitting and software..between 2.7 and 3 million sterling. This doesn't include any staffing or service packages. This presumes 40 to 60 mile approach function as opposed to area set up.Failing this, you could always save your cash, build a few roads and pay off a bit of debt ( seeing as we wont let them off....) <img src="frown.gif" border="0">
