A question to all Instructors out there.
When demonstrating Instrument flying to PPL students
where do you start if you want to keep the lesson basic?
Any way to keep this lesson enjoyable?

Relationship of Attitude indicator to the outside world...then relationship between control and performance instruments..and not to look at instruments that are moving..

THE AIRCRAFT DOSN'T KNOW IT IS IN CLOUD!

Obvious you may think but often ignored. Think how you teach ab-initio, starting at the beginning and take your student through the same process; Primary and Further Effects of Controls and so on but now with a more detailed analysis of Attitude/Performance instruments as you work through. The student shouldn't transfer onto flying by sole reference to the panel until they reach the stage when the panel stimulates in their mind a picture of the world outside. 'Spatial Awareness'. It is only then that they are able to apply the additional skills.
