Can anyone please advice me on a career instructing...I am 37 with fATPL/ 260 hrs etc and have been job hunting for 18mths. Given my age and the present market situation I feel it is maybe my best option .....possibly my only option!

I would intend to progress to instructing multi/IR's.....how long does it take when starting out, what are the job opportunities once qualified, what is the pay like etc

Any comments greatly appreciated

As far as I know you need 200hrs IFR before you can start the IR instructor rating. If you have only about 100 hrs IFR from your training and if you're not flying professionally (apart from the instruction) it is going to be very difficult to get these hours (unless you pay for them, but I guess that is not an option?) This is according to JAR-FCL, the situation may be different for the UK CAA.
