I have been told that there is a time limit from the date of completing the cross country solo to the skill test date. Can anyone confirm this ?
Cheers.

There is no time limit. There was a 9 month time limit for the CAA PPL but that was recinded by AIC in 1998 because there is no limit specified in JAR-FCL. Its not all bad.

The only relevant time limits could be that you have to complete the Skill Test within 6 months of completing the training and your ground examinations have to be completed within a 12 month period. From the last day of that 12 month period you have a further 24 months to complete the flying and the Skill Test and submit the licence application.
Cheers!
