A bit of a morbid query.

Aircraft use Halon for hold fire suppression. What happens to all the puppies etc in the bulk hold when the fire suppression is activated? Do aircraft have a seperate source of ventilation for the bulk hold or does Tiddles gently expire? (Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere I did have a search I assure you)

Livestock is likely to expire or not feel awfully well. You have to balance the eventual outcome against the fact that activation of the hold fire suppression system is an extremely rare & unusual event. Carriage of livestock is also not that common.

the ' live cargo' is as you surmised rather expendable. It is often the live cargo itself that triggers the fire warning. Although the temperature is somewhat controlled in the lower cargo holds, it is often the humidity from large numbers of whatever ( eg live frogs ) that triggers the wee bell going off.
