Heres what i remember from todays exam at silsoe.

I thought it was a tough paper, i wouldve definately known id failed had i not studied hard for the basic principles stuff. as it was i think i might've just scraped it. at one point i was asking myself if i was doing the right paper; it felt like a principles of flight paper to me.

To those whove helped me answer many of my queries on here , i cant extend my gratitude enough to you guys. ive been that much more confident sitting them with you guys helping me. and all for free too. wickidd!!!

For the people who sat todays paper, did you go for A which gave highest mass for 5 flaps or B which was the 15 flap mass factored for the wind?

What is the max rate of climb at the absolute ceiling?
A 0 ft/min
B 100 ft/min
C 500 ft/min

With an steady headwind component as you climb and IAS, mass remaining constant:

A the climb angle will decrease
B the angle of the aircrafts flight path increases
C max endurance speed is

An aircraft with reciprocating engine climbs at constant IAS, mass and atmospheric conditions being constant:

A drag will increase and IAS decrease
B drag will remain the same as TAS increases
C drag will decrease and CAS remain constant

there weren’t any options for ‘may’ . the others were not valid IMO

When considering optimum altitude for cruise

A flight higher than optimum altitude is sometimes used as ATC do not allow continuous use of that altitude for long periods
B flying at this altitude is always used as this gives the best economy
C flying below optimum altitude gives best range


Another question relating to the SEP fig 2.4 I think. answer was 10 kts headwind.

just remember the answerthere were 2 questions on the order of V speeds during take off . simple enough.

hardly any regulation questions to my relief.

Thought it was fairly tough as well!!

How the hell can you remember all the questions?

Thought the Instruments paper today was a Performance exam with all the CAS/IAS/TAS/EAS conversions, climbing and descending etc.


Just have to wait and see, good luck with the rest of them!!!
