Fog delays thousands at Edmonton airport

Thursday, February 26, 2004 - Page A8

Edmonton -- Thick fog caused delays for about 2,500 airline passengers in Edmonton this morning and may have been a factor in two fatal highway accidents.

A man was killed in a two-vehicle collision west of the city while another person died in a three-vehicle pileup not far from Wetaskiwin.

Investigators are checking to see if the weather played a role when a First Air 737 jet had trouble landing around 6 a.m. No one was hurt.

What the media didn't know won't hurt them. ;)

I know 7F is not CAT II certified, so I guess there is only two words to say, "APPROACH BAN !!!!!!!!!!!!"

Two 737's written off in two years, hate to see what their insurance is going to be now, ouch !!!!!

Obbie,
Your quite right re; App Ban' All I heard was that ATC stipulated the RVR as Variable.......
Best approach aid is centre lighting.....
Cheers...:(

Nah. The money for centerline lighting was used for the fireplace in the Central Hall there.
