Canadian ATPL

I am an Australian looking to move to Canada and I am wondering where I can do an ATPL conversion course?? Also, what is the job scene like at the moment??

Few year back Peter Shewring (http://www.aerocourse.com/instructors.html) took me through the stuff in a weekend, its real easy compared to the Oz stuff, just two exams (SAMRA and SARON), if you want to get the full licence then you will also need to do the instrument rating exam (INRAT), that was another weekend.

You will need to do a instrument ride, again easy as, Peter S could point you in thr right direction on this as well, he is a designated testing officer.

Exams, just rock up to the transport canada office when you are read pay your money, sit your exam on the spot, and then they will mark it electronically on the spot and tell you if you passed or failed, real easy, none of that ASL cr@p.

It was a totally painless process, things to do in advance is to contact the Vancouver licencing office, they will handle the review of your logbook, the office at the airport can only do the CPL licence logbook check. The other is to do the medical, try and do it before you leave, if you have a look at the CASA web site (http://www.casa.gov.au/avreg/avmed/index.htm) they list a number of doctors that can do the Transport Canada medicals in Australia, normally works out a bit cheaper as you can do your oz and canadian at the same time.

You should do your medical first, this will get you a file number with transport canada like your ARN, so it make communicating with them easy.

PS : Job scene .... worse than Oz, stay with what you know, its contacts that gets you anywhere
